H & L takes care of all the Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration at Gaylord
Chemical Corporation, a manufacturer of DMSO & DMS. They could care less about saving energy because one of the by products of their process is energy.
However, they are interested in system capacity and maintenance problems. Last year they installed a little Compress Shield. This past March, Mike Richardson decided to install Compress Shield in a 40 ton Carrier system(Compressor 06EX299-360), which had been a problem system. Three hours after installing the Compress Shield so much oil was coming back that they had to start taking it out. Over the following hour they said they removed three quarts of oil.
This is a system that maintains cooling in an electrical control room, computer room and lab area. It runs (7) Days a week, 51 weeks a year. Over the years compressors on this system had been replaced and they never realized that there was that much excess oil in the system. After removing the oil they reported that the system appeared to be running better than ever.
In September Mike Richardson said, “Every Summer we get calls on that system not having enough capacity. This is the first summer I can recall not having any maintenance problems and not having any complaints about not having enough capacity.”
They have decided to install Compress Shield in all of their equipment.
